The handicapper saw fit to put Restless Harry up a whopping 19 lbs for his win At Newbury, which was pretty harsh considering he had not won for a year - and frankly made himself look a bit stupid for putting him down so far if he really thought it was a fair rise. Back up to 141 narrows his options considerably so the Argento chase beckoned on Saturday. A big step up in class, but ground that he loves, and he certainly did bot disgrace himself. His jumping was nye on foot perfect and for a second as they came down the hill, we all thought he might hang on to a slender lead. The big guns kicked on going to the last and try as he might Harry could not quite go with them. However, he ran on up the hill to finish a very creditable fifth - we were delighted with him.
Both horses have come home fine, and will be out again before too long.
Very nice to welcome Peter and Doreen Evans to the yard on Friday morning. They came to see Point of Attack, who is the result of Charlie and my latest trip to Ireland. Nice to catch up and reminisce about past winners - Skram, Jacdor and Kytton Castle all multiple winners for the Evans family - lets hope the next one will do as well.
Mark Matthews of the Cheltenham and Three Counties racing club here on Saturday also to see Point Of Attack - his first visit, so hope he liked what he saw!
A few entries at Ludlow and Towcester this week, but both looking doubtful, and heavy ground guaranteed wherever! Our all doubtful on the ground apart from Pacco who will love it.
